Terms and Conditions
These terms govern your use of Convert Always. By converting a file with this service you accept them. This page is maintained by the Convert Always team and describes how the service actually works today.
Last updated: 6 June 2026
1. The service
Convert Always is a free file-conversion tool. Most conversions run entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly and Web Workers. A smaller set of formats is processed by our cloud conversion lane, which is clearly labelled as “cloud” in the output picker before you start.
We provide the service on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Features, supported formats and limits may change at any time.
2. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Convert Always to:
- process content you do not have the right to process;
- upload malware, or files designed to exploit the service or other users;
- automate, scrape or otherwise access the conversion lanes outside the normal web interface, including circumventing rate limits or anti-abuse checks;
- process material that is unlawful in your jurisdiction or ours.
3. Fair-use limits and anti-abuse
Local conversions accept files up to 100 MB and 20 files per batch. Cloud conversions are limited to 25 MB per file and are rate limited per network address and per browser session. When unusual traffic is detected, an additional human-verification challenge may be required before a cloud conversion runs.
These limits protect the service for everyone. Deliberately circumventing them is a breach of these terms and may result in access being blocked.
4. Your files and your rights
You keep all rights to the files you convert. We claim no ownership over your content and do not use it to train models. Local conversions never leave your device. Cloud conversions are transmitted over TLS, converted, returned to you and deleted; see the Privacy Policy for details.
5. Intellectual property
The Convert Always name, interface, design system and source code are owned by their respective authors and are protected by copyright. Nothing in these terms transfers those rights to you.
6. Disclaimers
File conversion is lossy by nature for many formats. We do not warrant that a conversion will be pixel-perfect, that every format pair is supported, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Always keep the original of anything important.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Convert Always and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill arising out of your use of the service.
8. Advertising
Convert Always is funded by advertising. Ads may be served by third parties, including Google AdSense. Ad behaviour and the cookies involved are described in the Cookie Policy.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the “last updated” date above always reflects the current version. Questions about these terms can be sent to the contact address published on the site.
